I Want to Believe
Do you believe? I have always been so fascinated by the thought of aliens, especially what pop culture has crafted aliens to be - little green men hanging out in flying saucers. When I was younger, like all children of the 90’s, I loved anything and everything with an alien on it. I had tees, hats, necklaces, rings… I remember loving to don it all and thinking I was so cool. I loved watching those cheesy documentaries on cable television about alien abductions and Area 51 (and still do). Fun Fact: I took a trip to Area 51 about two years ago - it was really cool! And I used to think X-Files was so mind-blowing.
When I saw these X-Files inspired pieces from JCRT, I knew I needed them. And I knew I wanted to share them here in an ode to my new favorite plaid shirt, the 90’s, my younger self, and UFOs. The Truth is out there!
I adore JCRT and the brand’s co-founders, CFDA-elected designers Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra. Another Fun Fact: I actually had the pleasure to assist with production for their Costello Tagliapietra Fall 2014 runway show, years ago while working at a PR firm in Manhattan before I started my consultancy.
JCRT offers such a unique take on plaid - pulling inspiration from film, music, books, and more - creating super fun, stylish garments. Of course I gravitate towards the cinema collection. Plaids inspired by Re-Animator and Suspiria, sign me up!
I absolutely love the brand and their selection of short sleeve shirts have become one of my summer wardrobe favorites.
